Dr. Michael Hu leads the development of a suite of materials and separation technologies for EnergyX. In this VP role, he directly supports the EVP, CEO, and executive team with day-to-day laboratory R&D activities at the Austin TX Innovation HQ. Prior to joining EnergyX, Michael spent his 27-year science career at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and was a principal scientist and team lead for a US Department of Energy (DOE) program (Bioprocessing Separation Consortium) that involves seven national labs and multiple partnerships with industrial companies. Professionally, Michael sees himself as a seasoned nanomaterials chemist, an experienced process chemical engineer, and an active nanotechnology educator/mentor. His work in advanced nano-membranes has won him a R&D100 Award and DOE success story in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Bioenergy Technologies program, and he is an inventor of 25 patents.
