Job Description

The Synthetic (Project) Chemist will be responsible for developing EnergyX’s R&D projects for compound synthesis and furthering the solvent extraction project. The successful candidate will supervise all aspects of the manufacture of the synthesized chemistry. The ideal best candidate for this role is highly self-motivated, thorough, diligent, and very organized with excellent project management skills.

Responsibilities

Work with a team of experienced EnergyX scientists in research and development focused on disruptive materials and engineering systems to fundamentally transform scientific aspects of the energy industry including:

Lab responsibilities 
Oversee and delegate tasks associated to organic synthesis
Organize daily activity of laboratory work, specifically the R&D work
Lab Administration
Ensure all test work is carried out safely and correctly
Be able to do the work of all technicians and engineers

Research

Order or have synthesized the reagents needed to further R&D testing
Report findings and help direct the next steps
Ensure that all equipment and reagents are ordereed
Work with other directors and VP to ensure that project timelines and research are on target

Projects

Provide SX team with test work needed to develop and test new SX technologies
Guide technicians and engineers in work priority

External contact
Be able to technically explain and market our technology to customers

 

Basic Qualifications

PhD degree in chemistry.
Experience synthesizing a variety of organic molecules.
Knowledge of standard techniques related to synthesis and purification of organic molecules.
Excellent Relationship skills –
Requires integrated work with project development team
Must work closely with the entire lab group
Must be able to communicate with internal and external customers
Self-directed and self-motivated.
Proficient computer skills – specifically Microsoft Office, Excel and Lotus Notes databases.
Excellent time-management, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in developing methods for product testing and experimental design.
Presentation skills.
Proven experience in managing a research project.
